Welcome

Compost for Soils is a partnership between the Recycled Organics Industry and governments across Australia and is a national program designed to build and spread knowledge about the production, benefits and use of recycled organics (compost) in a variety of soils and applications.

Compost for Soils started in South Australia with a focus on the benefits of using recycled organics in commercial horticulture and agriculture and has formed a partnership through Compost Australia, a national non-profit, member-driven organisation that is the national body for the organics processing and recycling industry.

Compost for Soils is now drawing on the outcomes of research and development from around Australia, including research on urban applications such as landscaping, topdressing and land rehabilitation.

To ensure that this vision is attained, Compost Australia has developed the following objectives:

  1. Promote recovery of compostable organic materials
  2. Develop markets for compost products
  3. Develop and promote standards and certification
  4. Provide a national information network for the organics industry
  5. Identify and agree upon common organics industry priorities
  6. Inform and influence key stakeholders and decision makers
  7. Coordinate research and development nationally

Our national office is located in Burwood (Sydney) NSW and is supported by five state working groups.

Our philosophy: If you get the brown stuff right - the green stuff will follow. It's as simple as that.
